Kos, Beach
M587
About This Work
Kos lies flat at the shoreline, pale sand giving way to a narrow band of sea below a broad, cerulean sky.
This whole scene is built from quiet. Just these simple, horizontal bands—the warm sand giving way to a calm strip of sea, then a wide sky opening everything up. The water holds those soft blues, while the beach is a pale beige warmth. You can just make out little touches of white where distant buildings or low waves catch the sun. The brushwork feels so unhurried, smooth for the sky and water, with a little more life along the shore. Light washes down, high and diffuse, casting almost no shadow at the tide line. The horizon rests low and steady. A quiet settles over the morning, slow and unbroken.
