Serifos Church with Strong Light in the Background

A blue-domed chapel on Serifos, midday light pressing in so hard behind it that the Aegean burns off into pale gold.

The light feels almost solid, pressing in from behind the building. It catches every edge of the simple white walls, making them glow while the background dissolves into pale blue and hazy yellow. Down here, the ground is all sun-baked ochre and gray. Those low stone walls lead you right back to the chapel. The paint is so smooth, but the edges soften where the glare seems to eat into the building's shape. You can almost feel the haze of light coming off the sea. The shadows are so sharp. Barely there. It’s as if the church is being lifted out of pure radiance. Time slows, and the silence of the island settles over the stones.
