About This Work
Ochre walls hold the midday sun, their shadows cut sharp against the stone. The air feels so still.
The whole scene feels held in a deep, sun-baked quiet. Your eye drifts from the dusty ground, past low, tiled roofs toward those distant hills softened by the heat. All the architecture is warm terracotta and earth, answered by just a sliver of cobalt sky and that single blue shutter. The paint on the walls is thick—you can almost feel their texture. Then it thins and softens as the forms recede into the air. Light comes from high overhead, catching the edges of stone before it pools in the cool darkness beneath an arch. That touch of grey-green foliage is just enough to soften all the lines. The afternoon settles in slowly, the silence holding the village as if the hour itself had paused.
