Dionysiou Monastery in Corridor
MK656
About This Work
Gold glints off a metal vessel against the deep umber walls. The corridor holds a quiet weight, the kind that settles into stone.
There’s an intimacy to this space. Everything is gathered close, pulling you down the passage toward an unseen light. The warmth of ochre and sienna rests next to muted reds and the soft gleam of brass, while cooler stone breathes out from the shadows. The brushwork is so careful on the curve of a candlestick, on the fold of a cloth, then it just softens into the walls. It feels like someone has only just stepped away. The air feels still, holding the hush of a corridor between prayers.
