Fruits by the Window

About This Work
Pears and apples sit close to the glass, their skins lit by a low, sidelong afternoon sun.
The whole scene feels so settled, so patient. Look how the fruit is clustered on the table, a small harvest of pears and apples pulling the warmth into their centers. Their deep reds and soft yellows glow against the earthy wood, while a cooler, dusty light breathes from the windowpane. The paint is smooth on the fruit. You can almost feel the gloss on their skins. But see how it loosens to find the grain in the wood? The light comes in low from the side, letting soft shadows pool just underneath. The air carries that late afternoon hush, when time slows and the day rests on the sill.
