Green Landscape in Corinthia, Very Old
M1074
About This Work
Sage and olive layer across the Corinthian slopes, each ridge stepping back until the furthest dissolves to pale blue-grey.
A kind of hush settles over the whole landscape. You almost feel you could walk right into it, across that soft foreground of grass and ochre soil. The slopes rise from there, greens folding into one another, olive and deeper emerald. See how the distant hills cool to a pale blue-grey against that thin strip of sky? The brushwork stays loose—fuller where the late morning light catches the high ground, then thinned to a wash in the hollows. You can even see the fine cracks of age in the surface. Nothing moves. The air holds the warmth of the hills and lets time slow at the edge of the field.
