About This Work
Sooty grids and oxidized planes lock against one another, fractured by lines of rust. The machines have just been switched off.
The eye enters through a tight cluster of rectangular forms at the lower left, then climbs along intersecting lines toward looser, scraped passages in the upper field. Muted grays and deep greens carry the weight, punctuated by rust red and metallic silver. Hard edges sit beside gestural sweeps—thick paint built up in places, scraped thin in others, so the canvas reads almost like a worked metal plate. Light is diffuse and even, without a clear source, letting shadows pool inside the geometry. Layering and reworking show through at every seam. A quiet dignity settles over the whole structure, patient and holding its breath.
