About This Work
Cobalt shutters sharp against pale stone, a lane rising past terracotta roofs toward the bare ridge.
A deep stillness holds this street, the kind that comes with high sun. The path seems to climb, past the overlapping roofs toward that pale ridge. The architecture is all warm ochre and cream, but see how the shadows hold such cool violets, and how the blues in the shutters feel so sharp against it. The paint thins out in places—you can almost feel the warmth of the board breathing through. The light is so direct, pooling in the deepest parts of the doorways. No one is here. And yet, you feel a quiet life resting just behind the shutters. The heat sits over the stones, patient.
