Spring Landscape, Very Old

About This Work
Pale blossoms catch the early light, white and rose against a strip of dark earth below.
A deep quiet settles over this place. The ground unfolds in gentle bands, from the darker earth at our feet into softer fields that lift toward those distant hills. The new greens breathe with the season, set against the warmer earth below. And the light just catches the blossoms. Little touches of white and rose. The paint is so controlled in the leaves but loosens across the sky. You can almost feel where it's thicker on the blooms. See the fine cracks in the surface? A quiet record of age. The whole scene rests in this light, and time slows at the edge of the field.
