Stacked Buildings of the Aegean

About This Work
Cobalt doors and pale plaster step rooftop by rooftop down toward a turquoise sea, all of it pressed flat under overhead noon light.
There's such a deep quiet here. It's the kind of stillness that belongs to the middle of the day. You can feel your eye follow the rooftops and stairs as they make their way down toward the sea. Everywhere the brilliant white is met with that deep cobalt blue, with touches of terracotta and quiet greens to soften it all. The light comes from straight overhead—cutting crisp, lavender-gray shadows under the eaves and between the houses. Beyond the rooftops, cerulean softens into turquoise where sky meets water. A held quiet settles over the village, the kind that belongs to noon when everyone has gone indoors.
