Troglodytes, Houses in Earthen Mound
M1564
About This Work
Several cave doorways punctuate a single earthen mound in Spain, their dark openings drawn deep into the hillside away from the midday glare.
A deep quiet holds this entire slope. You can almost feel your feet on that faint path, leading up to where the dwellings are nestled into the curve of the land. The hill itself breathes with warm earth tones, set against that pale, near-white sky. And see how the light comes in from the left? It just washes over the contours of the mound, pooling cool shadow inside each opening while the sun catches the edges of stone. It’s so peaceful. A patient quiet settles over everything, as if the houses grew here instead of being built.
