Workers on the Road
MK2191
About This Work
A worn glove and a lunch pail sit at the road's edge, set down mid-shift in the dust.
The arrangement runs laterally, objects clustered slightly off-center against the open ground. Umber, muted slate, and pale ochre carry the scene, with small glints catching on what might be metal or worn leather. Brushwork stays controlled—fine touches building texture in burlap and wood while broader passages settle the road itself into a soft, dusty plane. Daylight comes from above, even and unhurried, modeling each form without sharp contrast. Shadows pool gently beneath. Nothing hurries here. The silence holds, patient as the empty road, and something in that absence settles into the silence like dust finding stillness.
