About This Work
Ochre walls climb a slow ridge under a pale, washed sky. Heat sits in the bleached stone.
The foreground gathers low walls and dry earth, leading upward through clustered houses with terracotta roofs and whitewashed fronts toward distant hills that fade into soft lavender. Sienna and burnt umber anchor the architecture, while muted greens mark sparse vegetation and cooler blues open above. Brushwork shifts from careful, drier strokes on the stone to looser passages in the foliage and hills, with thicker touches catching light on the upper walls. Sunlight falls sharp on the rooftops, settling into shallow pools of shadow along the lanes. Time slows over the village, held in the stillness of an inland afternoon.
