About This Work

Twisted olive trunks built in heavy impasto, a low stone wall, and the Corinthian hills dissolving into lavender at dusk.

There’s a deep patience to this place. Look at the old olive trees, how their twisted trunks are built with such thick paint. They feel ancient. The leaves are just these soft dabs of silvery-green and umber, catching that last bit of light. That low stone wall leads you back toward the hills, see how they soften and recede? The whole horizon is washed in lavender and dusky blues, with just a hint of rose where the sun went down. All the light is gentle now, stretching long, cool shadows in slate and violet beneath the branches. And where the trunks are so rugged, the distant land is painted with smoother, more blended strokes. Evening carries across the grove, slow and quiet, settling into the silence of the land.
