Folegandros

About This Work
Folegandros: cubic houses pressed to the cliff's edge, chalk white against open Aegean blue, the village entirely emptied of people.
There’s a quiet that seems to belong only to this light. You can feel the warmth on that pale stone path as it leads up through the houses, opening onto a simple line of sea and sky. The colors are so simple. Just chalk white and soft ochre meeting the deep blue of the Aegean. See how the brushwork is smooth and clean on the buildings? But where rock meets scrub, it loosens and breathes. The light comes straight down, glowing on the walls but leaving the alleyways cool with shadow—soft lavender and gray, never harsh. A held quiet settles over the village, as if the afternoon has paused to listen.
