Hydra

About This Work
Hydra's harbor stretches wide — cerulean water, ochre stone, terracotta rooftops rising in tiers toward a pale afternoon sky.
There’s such a settled quiet here. The houses cluster in the middle distance, their terracotta roofs stepping up toward a pale sky, while a long strip of harbor anchors it all. The colors are clean—that deep cerulean sea against the white and ochre stone, with small touches of green tucked between the walls. See how the paint itself shifts? It’s smooth across the water, but on the plaster it feels dry and broken, letting the lower layers breathe through. Light comes in softly from the left, raking across the buildings and pooling into cool grey beneath the eaves. Tiny marks pick out the shutters and doorways. The afternoon settles into something unhurried, and time slows.
