About This Work
Slate blue settles at the center, held in place by ochre bands closing in from both sides.
This feels like a landscape holding its breath. The eye moves slowly across the planes, not into them, balanced between dense fields of color and answering passages of open space. The colors are mostly earth and stone—ochre and slate meeting chalky white, with little touches of rust pulling warmth through. The texture itself shifts from thick, almost carved paint to thin veils that let underlayers breathe through, suggesting eroded ground or the slow drift of clouds. Light is diffuse, without a single source, so shadows pool softly instead of falling hard. A contemplative quiet settles over everything, the kind that holds the last hour of an afternoon.
