About This Work
This band of ochre settles right across the middle, met by softer drifts of slate and bone. The surface holds a quiet weight.
It feels so grounded, almost geological in its layering. A low horizon, just suggested, pulls the whole view sideways. The denser colors anchor the bottom, while lighter washes let the top breathe. The work holds to its earth tones—that deep ochre and sienna meeting a muted slate grey, with thin veils of off-white softening the transitions. The brushwork keeps shifting, from broken touches to longer passes where the paint thins and you can just see the panel beneath. Light is so diffuse. It pools gently at the seams where the colors meet. The air feels still, as if the landscape has been emptied of weather and left to remember itself.
