Mountains with Cultivated Fields

About This Work
Terraced ochre rises toward slate peaks, with one narrow band of ripening crop held between the plowed earth and the rock.
A quiet patience settles over this landscape. You can feel the rhythm in the furrows, how they lead you up through muted greens and umbers. The brushwork follows the lines of the plowed soil, layered and deliberate. Then it changes for the mountains—the rock feels drier, the texture more broken as it rises into cool slate and soft blue. The sky is a smooth, pale wash of light. It feels like morning. See how the shadows rest between the terraces? Low and unhurried. And that little strip of gold, a bit of ripening crop. Time slows here, the way it does on land that has been tended for generations.
