Nerantza

About This Work
In “Nerantza,” a sunlit Greek world comes forward. Warm ochres and azure blues touch one another beneath a direct Mediterranean light.
A broad horizontal view feels grounded by a central focus—an orange tree or a weathered wall—that organizes the scene into layers of depth. The brushwork guides the senses, shifting from smooth washes for the sky and sea to thick, textured paint on foliage and sun-warmed surfaces. The palette is warm with earthy greens, bleached whites, and accents of orange that recall the bitter orange’s double meaning: beauty edged with a quiet melancholy. Architectural shapes give a sense of place and memory, while human presence is a feeling in the air rather than a visible figure. Light softens all edges and warms the shadows, protecting the calm, glowing quiet of the region. Light leans on warm stone and quiet air.
