About This Work

Masts rise along the Piraeus waterfront, their rigging traced cleanly against a pale midday sky over deep-blue water.

There’s a deep stillness to this place—a pause between departures and arrivals. The masts of the ships create this quiet rhythm against the sky, pulling you back toward the distant buildings. The water's deep blues rest against the sun-bleached whites and warm ochre of the shore. The paint itself shifts. It’s so precise on the rigging and the rooflines, but the strokes that carry the water and sky seem to breathe. The light is clean and direct, cutting sharp shadows along the hulls before softening into the hazy background. A slow, sunlit quiet settles over the water.
