Pyrgos

About This Work
Pyrgos rises in tightly packed stone above Santorini, its cobalt dome anchoring the whole hilltop composition.
A certain kind of quiet settles over everything here, a stillness born from the light itself. You can feel the path rising from the low walls in front, up through narrow alleys and terraces toward that central dome. The whole village is held in crisp whites and that deep cobalt blue. But look closer—see the warm ochre and gray that settle into the shadowed stonework. The brushwork is so confident where sun strikes a surface, then it softens, breathing across the rougher stone. The light feels clean and direct, leaving shadows that are cool but never muddy. The silence sits over the rooftops, as if the stones have been holding it for hours.
