Zagora, The Square, Before the House Was Demolished
M1970
About This Work
One house on Zagora's central square, caught in full sun—recorded here just before it was demolished.
There's a settled quiet here, a pause in the afternoon. The buildings on either side seem to hold the space open, letting your eye travel inward toward that one house. The path just leads you deeper. The colors feel so true to the place—warm whites and ochres on the walls, earthy tones underfoot, with cooler blues and greens that pool in the shadows. The brushwork is confident. Crisp lines define the architecture, but then they just soften in the shaded corners. The sunlight is high and clear, yet the shadows it leaves behind are soft. Any people here are small, quiet parts of the scene. The air carries that hush of an afternoon already passing, holding what will soon be gone.
