Seashore with Rocks
MK2230
About This Work
Weathered rocks cluster at the shore, dark against pale water. The stillness of low tide settles over everything.
The stones anchor the lower third, their surfaces softened by spray and time. A gentle diagonal pulls from the edge toward open horizon, set just above center—enough sky and sea to breathe. Muted blues and grays carry the water, touched with ochre and soft green where dampness clings to stone, quick whites where foam catches light. Brushwork stays controlled but visible: dry strokes give the rocks their granular weight, while smoother passages thin into glaze across the water. Light arrives diffuse and low, casting gentle shadows in the hollows, warming the sunlit patches with restrained glow. The air holds quiet—the kind that belongs to an empty coast at the slow turn of the day.
