Skyros Landscape with Houses
MK305
About This Work
Houses step up a dry Skyros hillside, their walls cutting clean and white against warm ochre earth and a cool afternoon sky.
There’s a deep quiet to this place, held in the high sun. The ground climbs in warm earth tones—ochre and sienna, with just a touch of dry green. And the houses, their whites are so clean against that cool blue. Small shadows tucked under the eaves anchor them to the rock. The paint itself changes, see? It’s smooth on the walls, then looser and more granular on the stony ground. It’s such a clear light. Distance just opens up quietly behind them. The whole scene holds a slow, sun-bleached peace, as if time slows here.
