About This Work
A single deep red anchors the composition, fruit and vessels gathered low in a pyramid of ochre, sienna, and shadow.
The grouping settles near the center, vessels and fruit clustered in a low pyramid that lets the eye move from the brightest accent down through softer shadow. Earth tones—ochre, burnt sienna, muted olive—carry most of the surface, while one deeper red pulls focus and cool grey rests in the background. Brushwork shifts as light moves across it: smooth and blended in shadow, thicker where light strikes a curve or rim. That light comes from the upper left, soft enough to round the forms without sharpening them, leaving edges that fade gently into cloth behind. Glazed darks anchor the lower half. A patient quiet settles over the table, and time seems to hold.
