Sunset in Rhodes Harbor
MK370
About This Work
Late sun catches the stone walls of Rhodes Harbor, the water below breaking it into scattered gold.
There’s a deep quiet to this light. The horizon is set high, leaving so much room for the sky to breathe—and for the water to mirror it all back. On either side, old stone buildings feel solid, their fronts catching the last of the sun as other walls slip into shadow. The moored boats just rest there. Their masts are quiet lines that lead back to the central glow where sun meets sea. And the colors in the sky just deepen from warm gold at the water up to a cool lavender overhead. The brushwork is different, too; smooth in the sky, but the water is alive with broken touches of light. Evening settles over the harbor, slow and unhurried, holding the day at its closing edge.
