About This Work
Tsepelovo climbs the slope in terracotta tiers, roof over roof, not a figure anywhere, just stone village meeting stone mountain.
A deep patience holds this place together, a stillness built from stone. See how the village seems to rise on its own, winding up the hill from those dry-stone walls at the bottom. The path carries you past all the terracotta tiles, toward the soft blue ridges beyond. The whole village breathes in warm earth tones, with cool gray settling into the shadows and just a hint of green finding its way through. And look at the brushwork—how it's looser in the distant sky, then becomes so deliberate on the stonework. That thick, creamy paint catches the light right on the edge of the roofs. The sun spreads evenly, leaving shapes clear. A quiet settles over the rooftops, patient and unhurried, the kind that belongs to old mountain places.
