Two Olive Trees in Patissia (My First Work)
MK1781
About This Work
Two olive trees grow side by side in Patissia, their gnarled trunks close against a pale wall in the midday stillness.
There's such a quietness here. The trees stand so close, their gnarled bark right in front of us. See how the earthy olive greens and silvery leaves rest against the dusty ochre of the wall? The brushwork feels so attentive, fine along the trunks but loosening into small dabs that build the flickering canopy above. You can even see some of the underpainting showing through. It's so honest. The light is gentle, falling from above and settling soft shadows near the roots. There’s a tender, unhurried hush to it all, as if the air itself holds this simple city corner in quiet regard.
