Zagora Houses from the Other Square, Mountains
M619
About This Work
Zagora's stone houses cluster below the Pindus, viewed from the village square, sunlit facades cutting clean against a cold mountain blue.
The whole village feels settled, like it grew right out of the hill. See how the houses gather, their strong geometric fronts pulling you through narrow gaps toward what might be a courtyard. And then your gaze lifts, up into those slate and dusty blue ridges. A high, clear light catches on the whitewashed walls, while shadows fall short and firm. Look at the paint itself—how it’s thick and almost carved into the stone, but breathes into softer strokes for the slopes and sky. The sharp edges of the buildings dissolve into the hazy air of the distance. No one is here. Just the patient geometry of walls, the slow lift of the land. Time settles here, quiet as sunlight resting on old stone.
