Zagora View, Very Cold
M620
About This Work
Zagora in winter: the hills withdraw into cold, and one ochre wall holds the valley's only warmth.
There’s such a patient quiet to this place. The stone paths seem to guide you in, leading your eye over the brittle ground and up through slopes that recede into pale hills. The whole world is held in these cool tones—slate blues and muted grays, with a touch of lavender washing through the air. And look, there's that faint pulse of ochre on a distant wall, the only real warmth. The paint itself feels colder in the distance, laid down smooth and flat. Closer in, it gets thicker, more like rough stone. That low, clean light catches every ledge, casting long shadows without any drama. There are no people, no rush. The cold just sits over the hills, and time slows to the pace of the stones.
