About This Work
One cobalt door keeps its color where the walls have surrendered everything else to the light.
A close quiet settles over these houses, the way they hold the hillside together. Look at that cobalt blue on a door, set against all that sun-bleached white. The terracotta roofs add their warmth, with patches of ochre earth anchoring them from below. You can almost feel the texture of the paint—thick and dry where the light hits a wall. The shadows are so sharp. They cut deep blue lines under the eaves and pool in the narrow spaces between buildings. There are no people, yet the doorways and worn steps seem to hold their memory. Time slows in a place like this.
