Above Kiaton

About This Work
From a height above Kiaton, pale hills recede in layers, the valley floor thinning toward a grey-blue horizon.
There’s a kind of peace that comes with this high, open view. The ground near us is dry earth and scrub, but it all softens as it falls away into slopes of olive green and umber, settling into those pale blue hills at the horizon. Look how touches of slate and grey define the folds in the land. The paint itself shifts, too—firmer and thicker up close to catch the light, then softening into a haze in the distance. The shadows are growing long but gentle. There are no figures, only the slow architecture of the hills. A held quiet settles over the valley, the kind that arrives just before evening.
