Snowy Mountains

About This Work
Snow claims the foreground, and then the ridgelines rise — jagged, pale, pushing into a sky nearly emptied of color.
There's such a monumental quiet here. The snow in the foreground seems to lift your eye right up to them. It’s nearly all white, but see the soft grays in the shadowed crags? And that little touch of warmth on the sunlit faces. The paint changes with the distance—drier and rougher down here where snow catches the rock, then smoother way back on the far ridges. The light feels so high and clear, cutting these sharp, clean shadows across every slope. Nothing moves. A held stillness settles over the whole range, vast and patient, the kind that carries the cold with it.
