Out of Madrid, Landscape with Nerve

About This Work
A road runs out from Madrid into open country — furrowed earth, pale sky, and an unresolved tension in the stillness.
A kind of humming energy rests under the quiet here. The road pulls you in, past the furrowed earth and into fields of umber and muted green, until you reach the distant hills soft with haze. The land holds itself in these earth tones. You can almost feel the artist's hand in the brushwork—thick paint on the rocky outcrops, then smoother passages for the sky. Late afternoon light warms the ridges, leaving cool pockets of shadow in the folds of the land. It's so solitary. A quiet tension settles over the whole scene, time slowing at the edge of that road.
