About This Work

Acrocorinth seen from the rear, late afternoon light grazing its walls and the pale limestone below.

There's a deep quiet to this afternoon light, a stillness that settles over the whole landscape. The fortress rests just off-center, its mass balanced by all that open space. Our eye is carried from the scrub in the foreground, up along the shadowed cliffs, toward those sunlit walls. The earth tones are so warm—umber and ochre meeting soft olive, with cooler lavender settling into the hollows. Look how the brushwork breathes in the sky, then gathers itself to describe the rocky face. Thicker paint lifts the edges of stone. The light rakes low from the side, pulling long shadows across the slope. Time slows here, and the hill holds its long quiet.
