Attic Landscape

The heat sits over everything. You can feel it on the ochre rooftops, settled so low against that pale sky. Nothing moves.

This whole place feels held in the long pause of afternoon. Our view is high, looking over the warm terracotta of the roofs and out toward dry hills patched with olive green. The land carries all those earthy tones, but see how the sun finds the pale walls? The paint itself is tighter on the houses—and then it just loosens, breathing across the rocky ground. Light comes straight down, casting short, sharp shadows that pin everything in place. That single cypress stands so tall. The air feels still, holding the long quiet of a summer hour that refuses to pass.
