Gkoura, Little Street, Pink House, Mountain Background

About This Work
The pink house sits quietly at the bend of a narrow village street, its rose walls holding the midday heat. Whitewashed neighbours press close on either side.
The warmth seems to pool here in the little street. See how it climbs past the tiled roofs and shuttered windows, leading the eye toward those soft lavender mountains in the distance. That gentle pink breathes against the earthy ochres and chalky whites of the other walls, and the paint itself feels so loose and sure. Doorways and shutters are just suggested, letting the mountains almost dissolve into air. The light is high and even, casting cool, shallow shadows. No one walks the lane. The air feels still, the village settled into the long quiet hour of the afternoon.
