About This Work

A row of buses sits in steady alignment, their rounded windshields catching the flat midday light. Heat sits over everything.

There's a deep pause here, the kind of quiet that belongs to the middle of a hot day. The buses stretch out one after another, their long bodies creating this strong, solid line. The colors feel sun-bleached—dusty ochres and chalk whites meeting a soft, faded blue. Look at the shadows underneath, how they pool and hold the vehicles to the ground. The painting itself is so calm. Each line feels placed by hand, not ruled straight, and you can see just a little thickness in the paint on the glass where it catches the light. No one is here. The sun falls so evenly, turning the scene into something almost like sculpture. The air feels still, settled into the long pause of a provincial afternoon.
