About This Work
Turned wooden forms occupy the center — bowls, a spindle or two — their worn grain resolved in flat, even light.
A quiet gravity holds these shapes together. They gather near the center, balanced but not symmetrical, and the space around them lets each one breathe. Earth tones carry the whole work, a quiet conversation between warm umber and cooler pewter gray. Just a touch of slate rests in the shadows. And a pale, almost yellowed white grazes a rim where the light hits. The paint itself feels like it knows the material—smoother on the worn surfaces, then drier and more broken where it describes the grain. The light is gentle, falling without drama, leaving shadows that pool instead of cut. Time slows here, held in the quiet weight of well-used things.
