Leonidio Houses and Mountains, Tragic
M1299
About This Work
Stone houses press close at the foot of Leonidio's peaks, the sky above them pale and cracked through with slate and lavender.
The whole world here seems to be holding its breath. See how the houses are tucked together, their neat shapes climbing the slope. The lines are so careful, so deliberate. Then your eye travels up to the mountain, and everything changes. The rock is all raw texture and energy—broad, dry scrapes of the brush, with ridges of paint like scars. The warmth of the earth tones on the walls gives way to the cool slate and deep lavender shadows in the crags above. The light is soft, without a hard edge anywhere. It just settles. That little path at the bottom barely leads you in. A long silence holds this place, patient and heavy, the way grief sits in stone.
