Thessaloniki Park near the White Tower
MK158
About This Work
Thessaloniki's White Tower stands just off-center, its pale stone set against the deep blue of the Thermaic Gulf.
There’s a gentleness to this light, a late afternoon warmth that seems to touch everything. The ochre pathways curve through the soft greens of the parkland, leading past the trees and benches toward the gulf. See how high the horizon is? It opens up all this space for the sky to breathe. And the paint itself… it’s so smooth on the water, but grows thicker in the leaves, as if they're holding the last of the sun. A held quiet settles over the park, the kind that belongs to a long, slow afternoon by the sea.
