At Kiatos, terracotta rooftops descend in stages toward the shore, the sea spread wide and level above them.

There’s a deep quiet settled over the whole scene. The village rests along the shore, its warm rooftops of terracotta and ochre stepping down to the water as the sea opens up above. A few slim shapes—a cypress tree, a chimney—are the only things reaching into the blue. You can feel the difference in the paint. The sky is so smooth, but the walls have this thick, sun-baked texture. And the light falls straight down, cutting sharp little shadows that give the buildings their weight.
