Zagora, Shops, No Sky

About This Work
Whitewashed walls press in from both sides of a narrow passage. Heat sits over everything here, patient and still.
The lane pulls you inward, deeper into shadow, where buildings stack and overlap without ever opening to sky. Muted blues frame a painted door; ochre and earthy red lean against chalky white. Brushwork tightens around signage and masonry, then softens in the recessed corners where light barely reaches. The hard geometry of Cycladic forms holds firm even where weathering blurs an edge. A basket, a shutter, a clay pot—small things catch what light filters down from above, anchoring the scene in the texture of daily use. The silence settles into the stone, patient and close.
