Kefalonia Painting (Kounadis)

About This Work
Kounadis rooftops descend toward the Ionian, ochre hillside yielding to cobalt sea beneath a high, unsparing noon sun.
The eye enters along dry ochre earth, drifts through whitewashed walls and olive greens, and lifts toward a cobalt sea. Azure and lavender shadows answer the golden stone; a few muted reds mark the roofs. Brushwork breathes fluid in the sky and water, turns more textured across walls and foliage, with small ridges of thick paint catching light at the rooftop edges. The sun reads as high and direct, softening shadow without flattening form—each surface holds its weight. A quiet settles over the village, slow as a midday hour that has forgotten time.
