Still Life with Apricots and Cherries
MK106
About This Work
Apricots glow amber against a muted ground, their rounded weight settling beside crimson cherries. The texture sits close to the eye.
The fruit gathers just right of center—apricots clustered in soft volume while cherries spill outward on slender stems. Ochre and peach modulate through the apricot skins, answered by saturated crimson on the cherries, all held within warm neutrals and quiet gray. Brushwork stays controlled on the fruit itself, with smoother gradations and glazing giving the apricot flesh its translucent depth, while looser strokes carry the shadows. Diffused daylight enters from the upper left, modeling each form gently and laying soft cast shadows beneath. Time seems to rest on the table beside the fruit.
